Hickory Ridge Elementary School

This two-story 126,878 square foot project was designed with the new state standard for classroom capacity in mind and will accommodate 940 students. There are (8) classrooms for each grade Kindergarten through 3rd, (6) classrooms each for 4th and 5th grade, (2) EC classrooms, and (2) encore classrooms. The gym is able to hold up to 150 people for sporting events and up to 650 people for a stage event. The cafeteria will seat 338 students and 58 guests along with allergy seating for a total of 394 people.
The outdoor facilities includes multiple playground structures for kindergarten and 1st grade and a secondary play structure for 2nd through 5th grades. There is an outdoor basketball court and a large multipurpose field for student and staff use.
The construction of this school involved multiple methods including structural steel, load bearing masonry and structural metal framing. The exterior features a unique blend of brick veneer in combination with horizontal and vertical metal siding. The use of natural light is extensive throughout trying to maximize the daylighting used during the school day. Installation of all LED light fixture package, reflective roof finish and exterior spray foam insulation to help minimize the annual maintenance cost.
Improvements were also made to Hickory Ridge Road by completing an asymmetrical widening and constructing the school system’s first ‘round-a-bout’.
